"Dressage is for the horse, not the horse for dressage".

Bent Branderup

Dressage is a tool to help our horses become happier, healthier, and more confident each day. To develop the horse physically and emotionally. Each horse expresses dressage in they own unique way. The goal is to give the riders tools to find alignment, bend and balance together with their horses.

Who Can Participate?

  • This course is designed for those who already have a solid understanding of reward-based training and have a horse that is calm and receptive to food rewards. (Can pause and connect with rider).

  • Your horse should already have a foundation of the basic R+ behaviors: hoof target, parking, free walk and nose targets. We will mostly work in liberty with the goal of the horse and the rider to really get in to the small nuances of each exercise.

This course is an opportunity to build on these foundation

behaviors and focus on the dressage aspects, such as flexion

at the poll, bend, and rotation. We'll also be looking at your training loops and cues to help you get the most out of the course. If you have questions about your level, just reach out by email.

Targets and arrangeing
the environment is an important way for us to create gymnastics in this course.

Set Up

Lectures: Lectures are prerecorded and uploaded each week. Subjects from Dressage Building Block, Dressage Components to Movement Cycles and cues.

QA: Every week where we meet live and chat, answer questions and get to know each other better. Depending on group constellation I try to adapt the time of the meetings to the different time zones of the participants.

Weekly Exercises: Each week has a theme (dressage targets, halt work, positions etc) to fill your tool box for doing gymnastics. It is up to you if you want to stay and dive deeper into one theme or if you want to start several processes.

Feedback

The feedback is at the heart of this course so make sure you have time to train.

All feedback serves as study material for the participants so we can learn from each other and get a fuller picture of how to adapt the exercise to the individual horses and develop our observation skill. It is recommended to at least have time to train 3 times each week but I do feedback every weekday so if you have the time, take the chance to train more. How far we reach during these 5 weeks will depend on where you start and how much time you can put aside to train.

Some of these exercises can seem pretty simple but is really an important investment if you want to work with more advanced training.
